Design Studio M is a freelance web design studio run by Mattias Ahlvin. Located in beautiful Palmer, Alaska, the goal of Design Studio M is to provide quality and unique web design services on a local and global scale.
I have been involved in web design in various degrees for over ten years. Having learned the basics of HTML when the Internet was still fairly young, I have gone from learning to hand code HTML for basic pages to creating designs for dynamic content management systems running on MySQL and PHP.

The DSM website has been a bit neglected lately, partially due to technical issues. To resolve some of these, the DSM website is being rebuilt and redesigned and will be relaunching shortly. I trust this will fix some of the issues experienced with the current configuration.
Once the design is complete, the current website will be "retired" and the new one will take its place.
For a preview, head over to http://www.designstudiom.biz/newsite. Let me know what you think. At the moment, the design is a temporary one and a more unique DSM design will be implemented once the rest of the site is complete.

Project Completed: Debra Waltman Paintings

Alaska is a very unique state in the USA, full of beautiful landscapes, mountains and wildlife. One of our local artists, Debra Waltman, has taken it upon herself to capture some of this Alaskan beauty by painting. DSM has had the privilege to work on the website for this artist and it finally went live a few days ago.

Project Completed: USS President Jackson APA-18 Association Website

Towards the end of May, the website for the USS President Jackson APA-18 Association went live. The association exists to serve the survivors and the memory of those brave brothers in arms that served side by side on the USS President Jackson during World War II.

Baseline for Wordpress

After a couple of months of slowly working on transferring the Baseline e107 theme over to Wordpress, I've finally come to a point of where it's usuable enough to actually play around with. Although it's not finished yet, I still wanted to make the work in progress available to download for those of you that use Wordpress and might be able to shed some light on what works and what doesn't.
I have also set up a Wordpress demo site at http://www.designstudiom.biz/demosites/wordpress where you can see the current version of the theme in its live version.
If you have feedback about the theme, feel free to use the forums to make it available to me.

New Theme: Cerebral Released

The theme used for this website for many months, Cerebral, is finally available to the public free of charge. Starting out at an experiment in CSS themes, it turned into a theme that has been used for quite a while here at Design Studio M.
Here are some of the features of Cerebral:

- tested with Firefox3 , IE7, Safari, Chrome and Opera
- three menu areas
- two layouts (default and custom)
- blank logo file for easy customization of logo

New Theme: Baseline Released

The e107 theme Baseline has been completed and is now available for download. Baseline is a new frontier of sorts in the sense that it is a pure CSS theme. The theme file size have been decreased as a result and load times are therefore quicker.

Theme Updates

It has been several months since my most recent theme release. As you might imagine, I have been busy with a number of other things. However, a few of these things have been new theme releases. Some are old themes I never did finish, some are new and experimental. Here's a brief summary of what's coming:
Cerebral
Currently, this is the theme at this website. It was my first real attempt at making a pure CSS theme and I have been refining it and updating it to get it ready for a proper release.
Mountain Mist
Previously known as Summer Day, this theme never was released. I'm making a few modifications to the theme at the moment but this one should be released later on this week if all goes well.
Baseline
