Welcome to the Alaska FJ Fans website!
The Alaska FJ Fans website is a place for all Toyota FJ Cruiser owners out there and especially those in Alaska. Alaska is a great state for off-road and outdoors activities and incidentally, the FJ Cruiser also is ideal for these same things. Since the launch of the FJ Cruiser, the number of FJ owners in the state has increased remarkably. It is for all of you (and all other FJ fans out there) that this site was made, as a place to come together and share the experiences and thrills we get out of owning this remarkable vehicle.

We're Back!
Unfortunately, this site has been fairly dormant for the last six months. Hopefully this is over and the plan is to get this site active and moving again. Look forward to more activity from now on.

FJ Cruiser Near End of Life?
The FJ cruiser is barely out of the starting blocks as a new model and there is already talk about end of life. Over at Autoblog, they stated the following:

The FJ Cruiser will complete its lifecycle and be dropped in the next few years.

Is this true? Time will tell but is it possible that the FJ Cruiser has become the latest victim of high gas prices?

FJ Cruiser 2009
A few details of the new standard features for the 2009 FJ Cruiser was spotted over at Fox Business.

Some of the things to look forward to for those that are about to buy one:

  • Active headrests
  • Roll-sensing curtain airbags
  • VSC cut-off switch
  • Front map light
  • Driver-side vanity mirror
  • Three new colors: non-metallic Black, Silver, and Iceberg White with all-white monochromatic finish

New Poll
I have posted a new poll for you all to participate in. The previous one asked this very simple question: which is your favorite color?

Since the overwhelming response indicated that most of you out there prefer the silver ones and no-one appears to like blue, it's time to move on.

Obviously, the FJ Cruiser is intended for off-road use as well but I see more FJs on the roads than off the roads. So, the new poll question is this:

Have you taken your FJ off-road?

Forum Signature Bar
I was browsing around some forums earlier today and kept seeing these small signature bars that expressed the preferences and likes of the forum member. I figured that as FJ Cruiser owners, we need one as well. I've made one initial one:

Feel free to snag this one from the downloads menu or just save it right from the news section here.

Image Gallery Online
The image gallery is finally online. I had hoped to have it online at the same time as the rest of the site but it didn't happen that way. One day later is pretty good, I'd say.

The image gallery can handle files in a variety of formats: bmp, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, swf, wmv, mpg, mpeg, avi, divx, mp3, wma, mov, rm, flv. This means that if you have great photos, videos or sound files you'd like to share with the rest of community, they can be uploaded to the gallery. The current file size limit is ~5MB.

A couple of things to remember about the gallery:

1. All files can be viewed and accessed by website guests.
2. All members can upload files to the gallery.
3. All files submitted to the gallery as part of step two will be reviewed before they are posted.

Now, go ahead, register and upload those great images of your FJ and let's enjoy them together!

Website launched!
It's a big day! After months of thinking and pondering if there really is a need for another site dedicated to the Toyota FJ, the amount of FJ's seen on roads here in Alaska was convincing enough, especially with summer coming up in just a few months. So here it is:

Welcome to the Alaska FJ Fans website, http://www.akfjfans.org! Bookmark it now!

What is the purpose of akfjfans.org? Simple: to be a place for those of you out there that live in Alaska and are owners of the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

The forum is already up and running. Jump right in and start discussing everything regarding the FJ and Alaska. A photo gallery is coming soon too and it will be a fantastic place for you all to share photos of your FJs in various situations.

For those of you that are Facebook users, check out the Alaska FJ Fans Facebook group as well.

If you have ideas and suggestions, feel free to post your suggestions in the forum.
